I would like to move the discussion on to the matter at hand: that of the cause of the Fornethy Girls. Ignore, shunned told that their memories and their suffering are of no significance, the Fornethy Girls are turning this around. By working together, by sharing their testimonies, and by arguing their case, they have the authorities on the run. They need support to continue and to do more.

'not associated with any group or church'

That proves my point. You are under no authority but your own. Repeating the same mantra is very telling.

That is not a "mantra", I am quoting Christ from the sermon on the mount.

" Then said Jesus to those Jews which believed on him, If ye continue in my word, then are ye my disciples indeed; And ye shall know the truth, and the truth shall make you free"

I am not under my own authority, that is the point Cherith, I am obedient to God's authority.

Good night, David. You are a good advertisement for cultish behaviour and beliefs.

That makes no sense, I stand on scripture and am not associated with any group or church. How can your accusation possibly be true?

You have been unable to justify your unscriptural position and now resort to name calling. This is not very good, is it Cherith?

Remember, the truth will set you free. Goodnight

Good night, David. The Christian Sabbath approaches and we are commanded by the Almighty to use it as pleases Him. You will find no blessing on your Sabbath-breaking good-works - on the contrary.

WHY THE SABBATH SHOULD STILL BE KEPT

There can be no doubt that the first day of the week was the day set apart in the early New Testament Church for the worship of God. It was “upon the first day of the week when the disciples came together to break bread” in Troas, “and Paul preached unto them” (Acts 20:7). It was on the first day of the week also that the collection for the poor saints of Jerusalem was to be taken in the Corinthian Church (see 1 Cor. 16:1,2). The change of day took place in order that the Christian Sabbath might be a memorial of the resurrection, which, of course, took place on the first day of the week. So it need be no surprise to find the Saviour on the evening of the Resurrection Day appearing where the disciples were meeting together, and coming to them again eight days later (that is, exactly one week later, for the Jews counted both the first and the last days of any period as full days). Christ honoured their gatherings with His physical presence just as He has honoured many other such Sabbath gatherings since then with His spiritual presence. And how wonderfully He honoured the preaching of the gospel on the Day of Pentecost (which was always the first day of the week) when 3000 souls were brought into His kingdom!

How then is the Sabbath to be kept in New Testament times? We cannot give a better reply than by quoting again from the Westminster Confession of Faith: “This Sabbath is then kept holy unto the Lord when men, after a due preparing of their hearts and ordering of their common affairs beforehand, do not only observe a holy rest all the day from their own works, words and thoughts about their worldly employments and recreations, but also are taken up the whole time in the public and private exercises of His worship and in the duties of necessity and mercy” (21:8). We should note how not only our outward activities, including our conversations, are to be regulated by the Fourth Commandment, but even our thoughts, which no one else – except God Himself – can possibly know about. These are God’s requirements, not man’s. The whole of our time is to be given up to worshipping God, except when we must turn aside to activities which are genuinely necessary or merciful.

There is not a single word of scripture which changes the sabbath from the one initiated by God at creation - the seventh day.

The idea that Sunday the first day of the week is somehow Christian version of the seventh day is false and unscriptural. Most churches now acknowledge this but excuse themselves in some way. You claim to hold to the word of God whilst doing the opposite. You falsely equate God's commandments for keeping the Sabbath to another day that is NOT the sabbath. You should not do this. You should instead follow Christ and obey the commandments of God.

Please follow my work - I will be discussing many false teachings masquerading as Christianity as time goes on. The mainstream churches breaking the 4th commandment is just the start!

As we will discover, it is much, much worse than that!

You omitted to answer what day you obey your chosen Christian Sabbath.

You would do well to stay away from public events on the Lord's Sabbath and encourage others to do the same. There is no doubt that their salvation would be a lot more helpful than you or any living person could ever be in dealing with their trauma.

I didn't omit anything. I observe the sabbath on the day determined by God when he created the world and recorded in scripture. That is the seventh day. You don't Cherith. You should start.

When you are convinced that 'going your own way' on the Lord's Day is what He demands of us - so we can justify our actions and lead others astray - only God can persuade you otherwise. And He will.

That makes no sense and fails to answer any of the points I have made. Most importantly it fails to address the core issue that you are rejecting God's word and following the traditions of men.

Hath the Lord as great delight in burnt offerings and sacrifices, as in obeying the voice of the Lord? Behold, to obey is better than sacrifice, and to hearken than the fat of rams.

'Doing good' is a regular excuse for Sabbath desecration.

As we have established Cherith, you are the one desecrating the Sabbath, the seventh day. Also, Christ and the apostles when doing Gods work on God's day were criticised in this manner by the scribes and the Pharisees. Christ was right, they were wrong.

You desecrate the Christian Sabbath and encourage others to do the same - and therefore to mock those who keep it.

Are you saying you fully adhere to these commandments - just on a different day of the week?

Expand full comment
author

No, I am saying I follow the commandments of God not the traditions of men and that you should do the same. No mockery, no inconsistencies, no belieing. Just following the word of God, both in terms of the Sabbath and in terms of helping the #FornethyGirls.

Also, you should really look into the belief that you claim to support, did you know it was the Roman catholic church that claimed the power to alter the word of God and change the day of the observance from the sabbath to the first day of the week? Did you know the reason that the RC church claimed the protestant reformers were heretics was bound up in the reformers claim to be Sola Scriptura, whist they failed to keep the sabbath day - an inconsistency the RC church leaders held to undermine their claim to be biblically true?

Christ and the apostles kept the Sabbath, the seventh day, not Sunday, the first day. Why do you consider that they "belied their profession" and that you are correct. Does this not strike you as unlikely?

Now you have come after me for having a biblical position with which you disagree, but rather than trying to understand it, you have condemned it out of hand. And this in a case where I am helping those who suffered in Fornethy. It all seems very unwise. But it has exposed your unbiblical position. Now, if you are genuine, you will pause to study to see what the bible says. If you are not genuine you will continue to berate me for alleged "desecration". Which will it be Cherith?

The bible, being the word of God defines this issue. It is clear - The Sabbath is the seventh day. You are claiming that it is the first or the eighth, but you can offer no argument.

The correct thing for you to do at this point is the search the scriptures and confirm what they say. And then you must face the implications of following Gods word not man's traditions.

It is the Christian Sabbath. And your excuses for using it as you please still belies your profession.

You are speaking falsely.

The Sabbath is the seventh day.

"Six days may work be done; but in the seventh is the sabbath of rest, holy to the LORD:"

Not the first or the eighth. You do not have authority to change the word of God Cherith. You need to read scripture on this, you will find you need to be keeping the seventh day holy. So will you?

'Fornethy Conference is arranged for Sunday 11th February'

Arranging conferences - for any purpose - on the Sabbath day belies your Christian profession.

Remember the sabbath day, to keep it holy. Exodus 20:8

If thou turn away thy foot from the sabbath, from doing thy pleasure on my holy day; and call the sabbath a delight, the holy of the LORD, honourable; and shalt honour him, not doing thine own ways, nor finding thine own pleasure, nor speaking thine own words: Then shalt thou delight thyself in the LORD; and I will cause thee to ride upon the high places of the earth, and feed thee with the heritage of Jacob thy father: for the mouth of the LORD hath spoken it. Dear Cherith,

The sabbath is the seventh day, and it recalls the creation of the heavens and the earth by God, thus recongising him as the creator, and looks forward to the millennial rule by Christ on earth, metaphorically equated to the sabbath day of rest, for the people will follow Gods ways and will no longer strive to exploit and dominate one another and will beat their swords into plowshares.

Sunday is the first day of the week, not the seventh.

So the conference is not on the Sabbath, it is on Sunday.
